Motorcycle seats are highly customizable parts. As with most motorcycle parts and accessories, motorcycle seats can be custom-made to your specifications. If you find a custom seat second-hand (which often happens when a bike is broken up for parts) just check to see if the bike it came from is compatible with yours. Sometimes, riders who buy custom seats will sell off their old seats for reasonable prices even though they are barely used. More often than not, though, riders replace their seats with stock models because their old ones have simply worn out from too much use. If that is your situation, you can get a new motorcycle seat from the manufacturer or save money by buying second hand. Seats can also get thrashed when a bike goes down and the pavement tears up the leather. If you are not averse to riding on duct tape, these can be had for a song. There are also leather repair kits that you can use to patch up shredded seats, which should not cost you too much extra cash. Changing your stock seat for one with more style or increased comfort is a fairly easy upgrade. If the seat you buy is meant to replace the seat on the bike you own, it should just snap right into place. Seat connections are relatively standard, too, so you may have more options for a new seat than you would think. |
