Honda S 2000

Highlighted for the high output of its engine, the 9,000 rpm redline and the smooth gearbox, the Honda S2000 first hit the road in April 1999. This vehicle has an engine displacement of approximate 2000 cc; thus the name S2000. From 1999 to 2003, the S2000 was being manufactured at Honda's Tochigi plant; it is now manufactured at the Suzuka Plant. Honda Motor Company turned 50 years old in 1999 and the Honda S2000 was the company's birthday gift to itself. This car had a rear wheel drive platform that was in continuation with the S600 and S800. The S2000 has a six-speed manual transmission to which, a Torsen limited slip differential mates to provide power. It has improved handling, road noise, steering feel and feedback since it is constructed using an extremely rigid X-bone monocoque frame. Honda S2000 also features double wishbone suspension, electronically-assisted steering, integrated roll-hoops, and an electric top. This electric top is said to be the fastest opening top among all convertibles worldwide, opening in just 6 seconds. When the Honda S2000 was introduced, it featured 16' tires; the models post 2004 feature 17' tires. From 2000 to 2002 and in 2004, the S2000 has been on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list. It was also the highest ranked model in the J.D. Power and Associates 2004 Vehicle Dependability Study's 'Premium Sports Car' class.
