About International Scout 1970

Developed to compete with the jeep as an off-road utility vehicle, the International Scout Harvester made its first appearance on January 19, 1961. The American sports utility vehicle was initially manufactured at Fort Wayne, Indiana. The first ones to roll off the assembly line were two-door vehicles with windshields that folded downward. They came in soft top, hard top, or half cab pickup versions. The International Scout Harvester models included the Scout 80, the Scout 800, the Scout 810, and the Scout II series that included the Super Scout II. The 1970 International Scout was a Scout 800 version manufactured between 1965 and 1971. Both the Scout 800A and the Scout 800B were available that year. The similarities between both these versions were that both had push button door handles, with wipers placed below the windshield and the door handle above the lock cylinder. However, these vehicles differed in the placement of the IH logo and the color of the squares around the headlights. Apart from these differences, the Scout 800A had round reflectors on the panels at the side and the word 'International' printed at the bottom in the right-hand corner. The marker lights on the side of the Scout 800B were rectangular in shape. The 1970 International Scout had bucket seats and a fixed windshield frame. The engines were optional, such as 196 4 cylinder, 232 6 cylinder, 266 V-8 and 304 V-8. The axles used were either the Dana 27 or the Dana 30. The 1970 International Scout was designed for increasing the comfort level of the driver.
