About Jeep

Few off-road vehicles in the history of auto making can be considered more uniquely American than Jeep. Jeep's roots are grounded in the U.S. military, which used Jeeps exclusively during World War II. Jeeps were often a sight for sore eyes to many American GIs in need during the war, and inevitably, a trusted relationship emerged between our soldiers and their Jeeps. After the war, the makers of Jeep realized how valuable (and profitable) this relationship was, and they started mass-producing civilian versions of earlier models. Today, Jeep has filled a niche market with one of the country's most popular line of off-road trucks and SUVs. Leading the way into the wilderness is the Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Jeep Liberty, and Jeep CJ.The Jeep Wrangler is a modern manifestation of the original Jeeps that once toured the European countryside half a century ago. A unique blend of compact size and toughness, the Wrangler is still unique today. The Grand Cherokee is a full-sized Jeep SUV that is equipped with an aggressive V8 engine. The Jeep Liberty is a combination of Wrangler and Cherokee, an enclosed SUV that is the size of a Wrangler. The Jeep CJ, made in the 1950s and 1960s, was the predecessor of the Wrangler and looks a lot like it, except that it has a higher front hood and ground clearance.Part of the Chrysler family, Jeeps are still made with the mentality that they will be used in war. The difference is that this war will not be fought with bullets, but with traffic or off-road obstacles. Thankfully, Jeeps are up to the challenge.
