About Mercedes Benz

Mercedes-Benz is a German automobile company which is known for producing high-end vehicles, including trucks, buses, and race cars. Mercedes-Benz is arguably the oldest automobile producer in the world. In 1880s Germany, founders Gottlieb Dalmer and Karl Benz developed the concept of using internal combustion engines in automobiles. After its initial success, Mercedes-Benz was quickly bought up by a larger German company, called DaimlerChrysler. The company's world-renowned three point star logo symbolizes 'air, water, and land' engines. During World War II, the Mercedes-Benz company was controversially involved in the production of German war equipment. After the war, Mercedes opened a factory in Argentina to churn out a large number of trucks. In 1940, Mercedes-Benz rolled out an off-road truck with tremendous capabilities. Dubbed the 'Unimog,' this truck consistently won four-wheel-drive competitions thanks to its hydraulic power, oddly offset axles, and resilient frame. During the 1970s, Michael McClure named a song after the company--a send up of what he perceived to be a growing materialism in the United States.'Mercedes-Benz' became one of the single most mentioned brand names in pop music in 2003, perhaps due in part to the popularity of the Mercedes SL, E320, and S-Class models. The car company claims to harvest all of its wood used in construction from special, environmentally sanctioned tree farms, although environmental groups and independent observers haven't confirmed the company's claim. Mercedes-Benz is also very well known for its special 'safe key' system, a 'one of a kind' security measure. Without the actual key to a Mercedes, you can't get the engine to turnover.
