About Nissan Altima

Nissan is a Japanese automobile manufacturing company that formerly marketed vehicles under the Datsun brand name. The company is currently headquartered at Chou-ku, Tokyo, Japan. Nissan is Japan's second largest car manufacturing company after Toyota. It has produced a vast number of cars and trucks initially meant for domestic use, but which have been exported all over the world since the 1950s. In 1983, the company dropped the Datsun brand name. Production of the Nissan Altima began in 1993, and is still on. It is a continuation of the Nissan Bluebird series that commenced in 1957. However, the Nissan Altima is much larger than the Bluebird and has many more features. The Altima was originally manufactured for use in the U.S., as a replacement for the Nissan Stanza. The Altima has had four design generations: 1993-1997, 1998-2001, 2002-2006, and 2007. The first generation of this car had a single airbag on the driver's side and front seat automatic shoulder belts. It came with the KA24DE I4 DOHC engine that produced 150 HP. The 2006 Nissan Altima has come a long way from its 1993 version. It runs on a 2.5L, 4 cylinder engine with 16 valves. It has a 5-speed manual transmission. The current engine produces 175 HP, and is a gas engine with the sequential electronic fuel injection system. The model incorporates disc brakes in the front and rear, and also independent front and rear suspensions. The vehicle gives mileage of 25 miles/gallon on city roads and 31 miles/gallon on highways. It has dual stage deployment and a front air dam.
