Nova 1970

The Chevrolet division of General Motors manufactured the Chevrolet Nova or the Chevy II, which debuted in 1962. At the time of its release it was available with a 153 cubic-inch, four-cylinder or 194 cubic-inch, six-cylinder OHV in-line engines. The body styles available were two-door and four-door sedan as well as convertible and station wagon. From 1962 to 1965, first generation of Chevy II was available. 1963 brought in the Super Sport version of the Nova which was similar to the original Nova with few cosmetic changes such as bucket seats, special trim, and deluxe steering wheel. In 1965, the Nova also had the option of being powered by a 327 cubic inch V8 engine that offered up to 300 horsepower. 1966 and 1967 marked the beginning of the second generation Nova while 1968 brought in the third generation of Chevy Nova that lasted up till 1974. The 1970 Chevrolet Nova had to abide by the strict emission standards and safety regulations introduced. It is a rear wheel drive, which comes standard with 4-cylinder, I engine. The optional engines available are 6-cylinder I engine and 8-cylinder V engine. The horsepower varied with the engine type from a minimum of 90 horsepower to a maximum of 300 horsepower. It had a wheelbase of 111.001 inches. In 1971, the Rally Nova called the RPO-YF1 was available that has rally wheels, sport mirrors and a blacked-out grille. The Nova, throughout its evolution, went from being a compact, economical car to a muscle performance car to a government compliant car.
