About Truck

A truck is a large motor vehicle used primarily to transport cargo and to stand up to tough road conditions. While cars are usually built on single body frames ('unit bodies'), trucks are built on chasses (basically strong joined frames). The major components of a typical truck include the chassis, engine, suspension, axles, wheels, drivetrain, and cab.Trucks come in a myriad of sizes, shapes, colors, and customizations. There are small auto sized pickup trucks (designed for consumers and light work), Sport Utility Vehicles, (which are classified sometimes as 'cars' and sometimes as 'trucks'), semi trailers (which rule the highways and deliver massive amounts of goods), and finally, off-road mining trucks. The most popular models used for everyday transportation include the Silverado and F150.The United States developed a sophisticated classification scheme for trucks. Any vehicle which weighs between 13,000 pounds and 33,000 pounds is considered a truck. Public service vehicles, such as garbage trucks, fire engines, and delivery vans, may all be classified as trucks even if they don't meet this weight requirement. Trucks must obey stringent traffic regulations. The largest truck on record was the Liebherr T 282B, a behemoth truck which was used for mining. Extremely large trucks, which never take public roads, don't have to obey normal road limits.Trucks can also escape regulations imposed on smaller vehicles. Trucks Unions tend to be large and powerful. The Teamsters Union, an organization of truck drivers and associated laborers, remains a powerful force in American politics. Environmental advocacy groups often come into conflict with truck organizations, since trucks don't pay attention to the particulate emissions regulations which govern smaller autos.
