The 240 Wagon belongs to the 200 series manufactured by Swedish automobile producer, Volvo. The series was produced between 1974 and 1993. The 240 Station Wagon was introduced in the 1980s. The Volvo 240 Wagon is a four-door sedan with a 2.3 liter fuel injected turbo engine. The car is equipped with four cylinder and five-speed manual transmission. Buyers of the 240 Wagon also have the option of four-speed automatic transmission. The engine is powerful enough to produce 85 kW at 5400 RPM with torque of 185 nm at 2700 RPM. The engine of the wagon is located at the front. The wagon is enhanced with electronic tinted windows, push seats, and supportive lumber. The interior of the 240 Wagon has comfortable leather seats, a glove box, and a broad dash board. The wagon measures 190.7 inches in length, 67.7 inches in width, and 57.1 inches in height and, thus, has enough leg room. Safety features such as 3-pin seat belt and fog lamps are also installed in the wagon. The tail lights have been redesigned to make them look more attractive. Each bulb holder in the tail light comes with a rubber gasket which eventually increases its durability. The antilock disc brake system was installed in the wagon in the early 1990s. The power steering and the four-wheel disc brake system stop the wagon immediately when the brakes are applied. The wheelbase of the 240 wagon is wide, hence, the wagon moves well even over rough terrains. The 240 Wagon is believed to be one of the safest cars in the world, since it has a larger crumple zone which protects the engine from damages when the wagon suffers an accident. |
