Chevrolet presented the 2006 Corvette Z06 at the 2006 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). This is the most powerful and the fastest car ever built by Chevrolet and General Motors. Production of the 2006 Z06 began in 2005 at the Bowling Green, Kentucky, Assembly plant. The Z06 is powered by a powerful engine, the LS7. The 7.0-liter LS7 has a small block V-8 engine that churns out horsepower of 505 and 475-lb-ft of torque. The car can reach 0-60 mph in less than four seconds and achieve a top speed of 190 mph on a race track. The Z06 has a 106 wheelbase and a short, long-arm suspension. The steering wheel is a three-spoke smaller diameter wheel which is easy to control. The tires of the car are supported by the latest extended mobility technology offered by Goodyear. This removes the additional weight of the spare tire, jack, or inflator kit. The large brakes can bring the car to a screeching halt. The four-wheel brake cooling offers excellent fade resistance and lining life. The Z06 has a magnesium cradle that acts as a support point for the engine as well as a few front suspension parts. The battery has been moved from under the hood and shifted to the rear cargo area. Comprising an aluminum body structure, the 2006 Z06 has not compromised on comfort and luxury. Other notable features include HID lighting, fog lamps, dual air conditioning, and cabin air filtration. The leather seating in the car has a two-tone surface with the Z06 emblem embroidered on the seats. Amongst others, it also incorporates features such as a Bose six-CD changer, polished wheels, heated seats, side air bags, and a navigation system. |
