John Moses Brunswick is the owner of the famous Brunswick Company. He immigrated to the United States from Switzerland in 1834. Thereafter, he started working in New York and Philadelphia. He established a Cincinnati Carriage Making Company that dealt in carriages and furniture such as chairs, tables, and cabinets. One night while working, John Moses Brunswick came across a pool table. Fascinated by it, he decided that he too was going to build exquisite pool tables. In 1845, the J.M .Brunswick Company made its first-ever pool table. Due to the fine quality and innovative pattern ingrained in every table, the company gained a lot of popularity. Brunswick opened its first office in Chicago in 1848. Possession of a Brunswick table is considered a matter of pride due to its reputation as one of the best in the world. Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain, J.P. Morgan, Henry Ford, and Frank Sinatra are some celebrities who have been proud owners of Brunswick pool tables. The Brunswick pool table has also graced the White House. Since its establishment, the company has made hundreds of pool tables. Some of these pool tables have been passed on from generation to generation, while some have been placed in museums as they are considered antiques. In operation for over 150 years, the J. M. Brunswick Company has expanded its business all over the world and grown into a huge empire. The company makes bar tables, billiard lights, and furniture, besides manufacturing accessories such as pocket balls, cue racks, centennial cloths, and play packages. |
