Back in the 1970s, Jake Burton's passion for a crazy sport called 'snurfing' inspired him to create snowboards. At the time, the boards were not allowed on ski hills. While Jake Burton was not the original inventor of the snowboard, he can take significant credit for the development of the sport. To this day, Burton Snowboards continue to be the most popular boards on the market. There are about 120 Burton Snowboards, whose prices range from $300-$500. All Burton Snowboards are tested and developed by professional snowboarders. Recently, the Burton T-6 has presented a breakthrough in snowboard technology. Its Alumafly™ core construction uses a high grade of T6 aluminum honeycomb that delivers an enhanced level of feel and response. In the past, aluminum T6 had only been used in aerospace technology. Burton collaborated with aerospace experts to produce the Burton T-6. This resulted in the Burton Snowboard's signature alumafly core technology, which consists of a hybrid construction of wood EGD™ and aluminum honeycomb. Since the aluminum honeycomb is 90 percent air, the boards are lightweight. EGD stands for engineered grain direction. The wood EGD™ is placed at 45 degree angles under the snowboard bindings, thereby providing an optimal combination of edge grip and durability. By running this wood grain perpendicular to the core only under the bindings, both carving precision and overall snow feel are greatly enhanced. The Burton T-6 is just one of Burton Snowboard's spectacular products. The company has also developed cutting-edge snowboard technology for women-specific boards. These snowboards carve in a way that would even make a skier envious. One of these women's boards is the Feelgood ES™. This highly responsive snowboard is designed to handle all terrain and all conditions. The Feelgood ES™ is the snowboard of choice for Victoria Jealouse and Shannon Dunn. |
