Autograph
Need some tips for getting autographs from your favorite sports players? First and foremost, you need to know the names of all the players on your favorite team. Players don't appreciate being treated 'generically,' and they won't respond to your autograph requests if you treat them like cattle. Talk to every player about something specific from his or her past (a success, not a blunder in the field!), and you will stand a much better chance of getting his or her attention.
Try to get front row seats or seats close to the dugout (or players' entrance). Get to games early and stay late. When teams scrimmage (warm up) before games, players often kibitz with fans and sometimes even sign autographs. Similarly, after the game, players tend to be less focused on the task of performance and more willing to engage enthusiastic fans in banter.
Bring a pen along with you. Sports players generally don't carry writing instruments with them when they're on the field. Present a program or other piece of memorabilia from the game--don't have players sign napkins, newspapers, or random scraps of paper. Be courteous and respectful, even if players don't see you or don't talk to you for very long.
Finally, be persistent. You may not get a complete series autographs the first time around. Go back to the stadium and try again. Alternatively, contact players via their websites or sports fan sites. It may take awhile for players to respond to mailings, but most athletes are flattered by enthusiastic, genuine fan attention. Remember to include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your autograph request.
When looking at autogrpahs think about your favorite sports including baseball, football, soccer, golf, hockey, tennis, lacrosse, sailing, biking and many others. Also think about your favorite teams and players including but not limited to The New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Anaheim Angels, Cleveland Indians, Oakland As, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, Chicago Bulls, LA Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and many more. Lastly thin about your favorite player.
