Joe Montana was not exceptionally tall, or fast nor did he own a bazooka. His high school quarterback coach considered him to be born to be a quarterback, who won by grace and wits, reaction and style. Montana possessed an almost spiritual calmness in the middle of chaos, especially when the game was on the line of fourth quarter. Born on June 11, 1956, Joe lived in nearby Monongahela and was encouraged by his father to get involved with sports. During his early days, Joe played basketball and baseball perfectly and was offered a scholarship to North Carolina State, but after being selected as a Parade All-American quarterback in high school, he went to follow Hanratty, his idol to Notre Dame. Later, Montana went on to become the greatest quarterbacks of all time. In the years 1982, 1985, 1989 and 1990, Montana led the San Francisco 49ers to four Super Bowls, being the only player to win three Super Bowl MVP awards. Joe was also the first player to receive two Associated Press MVP awards in league history. He received the 'Sportsman of the Year' award from Sports Illustrated magazine in 1990, and was introduced into the Football Hall of Fame in 2000. There is an old cartoon strip that depicts everyone on the field panicking, except for one young guy, who seems to be unruffled or unmoved, while doing his assigned task. That's Joe Montana, for all. The nickname, Joe Cool, was assigned to him because of his cool, calm demeanor on the field under the most intense of situations. Joe Montana collectibles include a variety of framed photographs from San Francisco 49ers, Notre Dame; Joe Montana archival etched Glass Photomint, Super Bowl champion photomint, Super Bowl Rings autographed photograph, autographed Gidee, autographed helmets, autographed Jerseys, etc. |
