About Japanese Stamp

The major organization for Japanese philatelists is called the Japanese Philatelic Society. This institution was founded just after World War II hostilities ended, in 1946. With 30,000 members and the blessing of the government, the JPS maintains a vast library of information on stamps and creates networking opportunities for in-country groups as well as for international fans.Alternately, you might want to join the International Society for Japan for Philately. The ISJP focuses primarily on publishing monograms, articles, and catalogs of stamps of interest. Their hallmark publication is a six times annual magazine called Japanese Philately, which contains about 50 pages per issue. Japanese Philately is an excellent resource for the serious collector.Of course, while organizations such as the JPS and the ISJP can help locate obscure postal ephemera, you first need to define your Japanese stamp collecting mission narrowly. For instance, you may want to focus on the Japanese stamps which flourished in the early 1900s. These sets are, by and large, both rare and beautiful. It's not hard to discover mint sets either, particularly from the post 1920s era.Early Japanese stamps were not built to last. Preserving your collection is key to protecting your investment. Stamp collectors may want to purchase specialized storage equipment to stabilize their mint condition and proof set Japanese stamps. After all, trace amounts of chemicals or tough polymers in non-regulation albums can damage hard-to-find Japanese rarities.
