Today's Bristol Motor Speedway has changed greatly from what it was originally at its opening event in 1961, the Volunteer 500. Jack Smith and Johnny Allen, Smith's relief driver, won that event. It was raced on a track which was flat and had a grandstand on each side, with a seating capacity of around 18,000. The speedway changed owners a number of times but it kept growing and improving into the speedway that it is today. The flat track is now banked at 36°, making it the steepest of any NASCAR speedway. The track has been redone in concrete instead of the original asphalt and the spectator seating now surrounds the entire course. Today, the speedway's capacity is 160,000. It has 650-foot long straightaways and turns that are 960 feet long. The track width is 40 feet. Some of the events that the Bristol Motor Speedway hosts include the Nextel Cup Series events, the Busch Series events, the Craftsman Truck Series events and the UARA Late Model and Hooters Pro Cup events. The Food City 500 and the Sharpie 500 are arguably the two most popular events that take place at the Bristol Motor Speedway, making these some of the most sought-after of all Bristol tickets. Each year, some 200,000 people want to get Bristol tickets. Most likely, if you do not have season tickets, you will have to look elsewhere, like an internet auction website, to get Bristol tickets. These are tickets that are sold by season ticket holders who can't make it to a particular event. Your location on the track is vital, too, so check out a map of the facility beforehand and find seats where the action is. See More Bristol Motor Speedway Tickets at Stubhub! |
