Despite (or perhaps because of) their piano-driven melodies, quite unusual in today's pop scene, Coldplay has built a reputation as a great live band. With less showy special effects and more of an intimate vibe, Coldplay tends to keep the focus on the music--much to the delight of fans. As a result, Coldplay tickets are a hot commodity, often selling out soon after they're put on the market. Band members include Chris Martin on lead vocals, keyboard, and guitar; Jon Buckland on guitar, harmonica, and backing vocals; Guy Berryman on bass, synthesizer, harmonica, and backing vocals; and Will Champion on drums, piano, and backing vocals. Continuing in the tradition of the British Invasion, Coldplay hails from London. The band made their first appearance in Glastonbury, after signing on with Parliphone for a five-album contract in 1999. The band members met and started the group as students at the University College of London. The first two were Martin and Buckland and by 1998, the band lineup was complete. Coldplay, whose original name was Starfish, began by playing small gigs in Camden. Phil Harvey, who managed the band up until the first album, Parachutes, helped to raise money for the band to make a demo. Since the release of Parachutes, Coldplay has continued to build a loyal fanbase. Their subsequent releases, A Rush of Blood to the Head and E&Y have been commercial as well as critical successes. This in turn has driven the sale of Coldplay tickets, which are popular among teenagers and twenty- and thirty-somethings. Since most fans attend in order to hear the music rather than gawk at a typical rock spectacle, seating is less of an issue. If you're strapped for cash, cheaper tickets in an acoustically-friendly location should do just fine. See More Coldplay Tickets at Stubhub! |
