About Theater Tickets

The theater has experienced a tumultuous history. From the early days of ancient Greek drama to modern day super spectacles on Broadway, the theater has continually grown and evolved into the most interesting and diverse artistic arena imaginable. Tragedy, comedy, musicals, and avant garde productions are used to explore social issues in fun and unique ways. There was a time, though, when the theater was seen as a breeding ground of vice and getting to see your favorite show was next to impossible. The puritanical government in England in the 17th Century so distrusted theater that it did everything it could to regulate and outright ban theater in the country. By the time of the Restoration in the latter half of the century, audiences were so excited for the return of the theater that many fans would routinely see several shows in a single night. It's a lot easier to see your favorite shows today. We no longer have these oppressive governments that try to close down theaters and stifle artistic expression. Today you can see shows like 'Rent,' 'Cats,' 'Avenue Q,' 'Wicked,' 'Spamalot,' 'The Odd Couple,' and 'Chicago,' whenever they're being produced. You can also see the classics performed at any of the excellent Shakespeare festivals put on around the country every year. Like any good show, though, these and other popular plays are often difficult to get tickets for. There are always scalpers loitering around outside major theaters looking to turn a good profit by selling theater tickets at huge mark ups, but getting your tickets online is usually easier, cheaper, and safer.
