Bratz DollCreated by MGA entertainment, Bratz dolls invaded the children's toy market in late 2001. Comprising of four original characters, Yasmin, Sasha, Cloe and Jade; each have distinct characters, preferences and fashion sense. Later inclusions in the Bratz dolls collection include Dana, Fianna, Nevra, Tiana, Kumi, Felicia, Katia, and Kiana and the Bratz Boyz, Alec, Bryce, Cade, Cameron, Dylan, Eitan, Idan, Koby, and Zack. MGA entertainment took the Bratz dolls further by introducing the Tokyo-Go-Go collection. Highly inspired by Japanese street style, this collection had the dolls dress up in wild colors and accompanied by 'cyber-pets'. The Bratz Boyz were given a notorious London punk look, complete with studded and buckled jackets, wild hair colors and hair dos, along with dark makeup. When it came to pets, the Boyz were given cats and the girlz were given dogs. Another line that MGA came up with was the Head Gamez line; this line had a unique feature of customizing the dolls by switching the Bratz doll's heads off a specially designed body. Fabulous, a Las Vegas-inspired line, and Ooh La La, which is set in Paris were introduced to imply the international appeal of the dolls. Collections that were introduced in 2005 include the Sportz line, I-Candy collection, DynaMite, and Midnight Dance. 2006 saw their flag ship collection, the Bratz Genie Magic. This line featured Yasmin, Cloe, Sasha, Jade and Meygan wearing Indian style clothes and accessorized with a make-it-yourself necklace and a real fortune telling genie bottle. The Bratz 'Forever Diamonds collection' is the most expensive Bratz doll collection till date. Bratz dolls fell into controversy when they introduced the 'Secret Date collection'. This collection featured one of the four original girlz and a mystery Bratz boy, whose identity could only be guessed from a tiny window displaying his feet. This caused parents to proclaim that the Bratz collection encouraged and even pressured children to go on dates without the knowledge of parents. The Bratz pack have also featured in videogames released on Nintendo Gamecube, PS2 and Game Boy Advance. And who can forget their hit CDs that featured original songs such as 'Bein' Who We Are' and 'So Good'. |
