The Leapster by Leapfrog is a multimedia learning activity set which features games, verbal exercises, tools to create, and lots of fun educational videos. The ergonomic 12 bit display looks handsome and withstands lots of abuse. You can use easy to find controls to adjust the Leapster's screen brightness and volume, and you can also set it up for silent play with a headphone jack.

The Leapster won a slew of awards during 2003 and 2004, including Scholastic Parent and Child Magazine's Teacher's Pick for Best New Tech Toy, the Top Educational Award from the Great American Toy Test, and the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal. The four AA batteries are not included, and you may want to buy cartridges to supplement the Leapster's included programs.
