Teletubbies

Teletubbies is a television series made for children, and is aired on BBC. This popular television show was produced by Ragdoll Productions, from 1997 to 2001. Teletubbies is meant for children between age group of one to four years; however this show became popular among the older generation too. The program has four main tubby characters - Tinky-Winky, Laa-Laa, Po, and Dipsy who live in a futuristic dome (the Tubbytonic Superdome) which is based in a landscape of lush grasslands. It is always sunny in Tubbyland and its environment consists of talkative flowers, rabbits, and voice trumpets. The Teletubbies talk in gurgling baby language. Some popular teletubbies phrases are ' 'Eh-Oh', 'Laa-Laa', 'uh-Oh', 'Run away! run away!' and 'Bye-Bye'. The costumes of teletubbies look like bulky space suits and are furry. This show's theme song 'Teletubbies say Eh-Oh', reached the number one position on the UK singles chart in December 1997 and remained at that position for eight months and sold millions of copies. The teletubbies characters are played by actors who are dressed in costumes. Tinky-Winky is portrayed by Dave Thompson/ Mark Heenehan/ Simon Shelton. Dipsy is portrayed by John Simmit, Laa-Laa by Nikky Smedley, and Po by Pui Fan Lee. Teletubbies was created by Ragdoll's creative director Anne Wood CBE, and Andrew Davenport who wrote 365 episodes for the show. Teletubbies became notable for its high production values, and acquired critical and commercial acclaim and success in Britain and abroad. Teletubbies won the BAFTA award in 1998. The bright colors and designs made this show one of the favorite television show for children.
