Tomb Raider Doll
Developed by Core Design, Tomb Raider was released in 1996 in the form of a video game for Play Station, PC, and Sega Saturn. Lara Croft, the main Tomb Raider character, is portrayed as a tough British archeologist in search of ancient, hidden treasures. Designed by Toby Gard, Lara has undergone various changes in appearance since her 1996 debut. However, she usually dons short brown pants, a green top and carries a backpack. She is also equipped with pistols. The game is so designed that the player has to control all the actions of Lara Croft. The player has to help her find three mysterious, Scion artifacts. To reach the hidden treasures, she has to pass through tombs and slay dangerous animals that cross her path. In some of the games, she faces human opponents. It is the very interactive platform of the game that has contributed to its success. Lara Croft has had a fast climb up the ladder of success since her debut; even 'The Guinness book of World Records' accorded her the status of 'Most Successful Human Video Game Heroine' in 2006. Lara Craft is not restricted to video games alone but spans an entire media empire. Two Tomb Raider movies have been made starring Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft. 'The Lara Craft: Tomb Raider' was released in 2001, while 'Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life' was released in 2003. Various comic books also feature Lara Croft, and different types of merchandise such as wallpapers, clothes, and dolls are sold. The dolls are miniature versions of Lara Croft in different costumes and sizes.
