Mario BrothersMario Brothers, also popularly known as Super Mario Brothers, is a game that was launched by Nintendo in the year 1985. It was one of the first side-scrolling platform games. It changed the face of video games with its innovative and colorful designs, introducing gamers to a whole new world of interactive gaming. The first player takes on the role of Mario and the second player moves into Luigi's character. Luigi is known to be Mario's brother. The ultimate aim of the game is to race through the Mushroom Kingdom, dodge or eliminate Bowser's evil forces and eventually save the princess. Mario's primary means of attack is by jumping on top of his enemies; wherein the mushroom traitors known as 'Goombas' are terminated while the turtle soldiers are forced into their shells. In the case of the evil 'Spinys', Mario can only destroy them with fireballs; jumping on them would only hurt him. After noticing how popular 'Mario Bros.' had become, developers soon released a series of sequels to the game. These are 'Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels', 'Super Mario Bros. 2', and Super Mario Bros. 3'; other alternate versions also include 'Vs. Super Mario Bros.', 'All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros.', ' Super Mario All-Stars', and 'Super Mario Deluxe'. A series of Mario games were also launched for NES. A series of shows as well as a movie based on The Mario Brothers have also been made. Super Mario Bros. is considered as the world's best-selling video game of all time by The Guinness Book of World Records. It was highly responsible for the initial success of the Famicom and Nintendo Entertainment System. Over the years, Mario's success has grown tremendously and eventually became Nintendo's mascot. Mario and Luigi are also known to be two of the world's most famous fictional characters. |
