Runescape

Andrew Gower developed the original version of RuneScape in 1998. RuneScape is a MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) where, millions of players world wide can access the game site via the internet. By March 2006, RuneScape had 197,000 players simultaneously logged on to their site across 123 international servers. At the RuneScape site players also interact with fellow gamers, develop skills, participate in trades, and engage in mini missions and mutual missions. RuneScape has an economy system that is kept on circulation by trading, buying and selling of amour, precious gems, weapons and similar items. Alchemy spells, smiting, and thieving are other ways of earning money in RuneScape. The value of these items is measured by their rarity and usefulness. RuneScape currency is gold pieces, also called 'GP'. The RuneScape economy system is very similar to a real life economy system, where the lesser the supply, higher the demand. Newer items usually sell at a higher price as older items depreciate in value. Discontinued and newly released items are far more valuable than other items. Prices of items can depreciate to as low as one-tenth of its original price. On the other hand, valuable items can cost as mush as 50 million GP and even more. The prices of regularly used articles such as arrows, food and runes do not fluctuate much, regardless of their demand. Some of the most expensive items available on RuneScape are the Abyssal Whip for 50 million GP, Dust Devils for 25 Million or more, Dragon Chainbody, Treasure Trail Items, Holiday Items and Barrows Amour.
