About Star Wars

Being arguably the most popular movie series of all time, it only made sense for LucasArts to introduce a series of Star Wars video games. One of the first of these games to hit home consoles was simply titled Star Wars, and was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1991. Since then, many more Star Wars games have been introduced on virtually every console since the original NES.The most recent entry into the Star Wars series of games came in 2005 with the release of Star Wars: Battlefront II. This particular game was said to take an 'Imperial-walker step forward' in regards to the quality of its sound, graphics, and playability compared to past games. Star Wars: Battlefront II became not only a popular Star Wars PS2 game, but an acclaimed Star Wars Xbox game as well.Another popular Star Wars game is Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. Unlike many other Star Wars games which have found homes on numerous consoles, KOTOR was released only for the PC and Xbox. Being such a high-profile title which garnered high praises from video game reviewers, many Star Wars fans purchased Xboxes to play the game, as the system requirements for the PC version were astronomical for many gamers.Battlefront and KOTOR are by no means the only two Star Wars games available for the PS2 and Xbox. Currently, there are over 10 Star Wars games available for the Xbox system alone. A few of these titles include Jedi Starfighter, Republic Commando, and even a Lego version of Star Wars, featuring your favorite Star Wars characters as minifigs. Star Wars Battlefront even takes advantage of the Xbox Live service, allowing gamers to play one another in virtual galaxies far, far away.PC gamers have an especially rich library of Star Wars games to choose from. In addition to the many popular Star Wars franchises like Knights of the Old Republic II (KOTOR) and LEGO: Star Wars, the PC also boasts the massively multi-player online game, Star Wars Galaxies, an immersive Star Wars experience in which you can interact with thousands of other Star Wars fans.
